TREVOSE, PA – July 20, 2006 – Advertising Specialty Institute®, the largest media organization serving the promotional products industry, announced today it is providing discounts on UPS freight shipments within the United States and cross-border to and from Canada. This is a new benefit, available at no extra charge to ASI distributors and suppliers in the United States, who register for the UPS freight program.
ASI members who sign up will receive a 65% discount on LTL (less-than-truckload) freight shipments. Shipments that are LTL are larger than normal parcel shipments, generally placed on pallets, and range in weight from 150 pounds to 20,000 pounds. Service within the 48 contiguous United States and Canada is included.
“This benefit for ASI members in the United States is the most valuable discount shipping program in the promotional products industry,” said Timothy M. Andrews, president of ASI. “Our members tell me that, since enrolling in this free program, they have saved enough on shipping to cover the entire cost of their annual ASI membership fee – sometimes several times over. More than $12.5 million has been saved so far by ASI members on shipping with UPS.”
“UPS is pleased to add UPS Freight (LTL) discounts to the comprehensive discount shipping program for ASI members,” said Joe Trumbull, CRM Manager for UPS. “UPS has more than 200 North American facilities, over 22,000 trailers, and 6,700 tractors – which guarantees you reliability, speed and vast coverage.”
The new LTL discount provides practical and useful shipping options from UPS, a leader in shipping around the world, and offers flexible shipping and delivery options for promotional products companies.
ASI members, including those already enrolled in the UPS discount shipping program, must sign up for the 65% LTL shipping discount to start receiving this new benefit. To sign up, visit www.asicentral.com/ups, or call 800-325-7000.
