June 8, 2004, Trevose, PA – Advertising Specialty Institute, the largest member organization in the promotional products industry, recently announced the promotion of Lori Sherman to the newly created position of Vice President of Development.
Making the announcement was Dale Denham, senior vice president of information for ASI. “During the past few years Lori’s leadership in development has allowed ASInternet to release new products that have significantly enhanced the way promotional products professionals do business,” says Denham. “She has demonstrated exceptional team-building skills that result in better understanding of customers’ needs and greater productivity.”
Asked what her goals are as development VP, Sherman responds, “To streamline and integrate our product lines to deliver maximum value to our customers.” She adds, “I am thrilled to be a part of ASI at this time in the organization’s history, and I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of this new role.”
Sherman joined ASI as director of Internet technology in August 2000. Prior to joining ASI, she spent three years as a director at Reliance Insurance Company in Philadelphia, where she was responsible for managing development, infrastructure and data aspects of e-commerce sites and products supporting the insurance business. She also led support of the email environment for over 6,000 employees worldwide.
Sherman also served as Vice President of Information Technology for the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. She earned her B.S. in electrical and computer engineering from Drexel University.
Advertising Specialty Institute is the largest media organization serving the promotional products industry, with a membership of 20,000 distributors (sellers) and suppliers (manufacturers) of promotional products. Suppliers use ASI print and electronic resources to promote their products to more than 17,000 ASI distributors. Distributors use ASI print and electronic resources, which contain more than 650,000 promotional products, to locate supplier products and to promote their services to buyers of promotional products. ASI was founded in 1950 and employs a staff of 500. The company offers catalogs, informational directories, newsletters, magazines, websites and databases, and provides a variety of interactive business, marketing and selling tools.
