“Live in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1”

Welcome to UKFilm.org. We're very excited (and pretty relieved) to finally be able to take the wraps off our shiny new toy and show it to the world. With your help, we'd like this site to grow into the most interesting, comfortable, informative and enjoyable website for the UK film and TV industries.

So, what tricks can UKFilm.org do for you? For starters, we've got a web forum that we're pretty proud of. Jump in and join a discussion or start a new one. Secondly, there's a news feed on the front page which also invites your comments about the news items. Next is our events calendar which is about a week away from completion. Finally there's our feature articles - we've already got some excellent articles in there:

Zara has interviewed the Senior Programmer at Raindance Film Festival, Suzanne Ballantyne. If you want to learn everything there is to know about what makes a festival programmer tick then check out her article. LL is our festival expert. She's delighted to report that this year's much-improved Berlin Film Festival comes closer than ever to threatening Cannes' crown. Read her article here. Last but certainly not least is Annie's excellent article on The new horizons of UK Film Finance, a life jacket for the UK film industry? in which she brings us up to speed on the new tax scheme for British films.

Truth be told, UKFilm.org isn't 100% complete yet. But, then again, it'll never be complete because we'll always have plans for ways in which to improve it for you. Over the next few weeks we hope to fix all remaining bugs and then, when the site's ready, we'll start a big publicity push.

So, what can you do now? Please do get involved in the site. We'd love to hear your feedback in the forum. Or perhaps you'd be interested in contributing an article? If so, please contact us. And please sign up to our RSS feed for the main news site so you can keep up to speed.

All that remains for me to do is to thank everyone involved in the site for the huge amount of effort they've put in.

Oh, and of course - WELCOME!

Jack,
UKFilm.org
