Raindance.tv, a web and mobile-based independent film destination, today announced that it is joining Joost, the world’s first broadcast-quality internet television service. Joost users will now be able to view for free Raindance.tv's unrivalled range of independent features, shorts and documentaries.

The Raindance Festival, the UK’s biggest independent film festival, launched Raindance.tv with dandy productions and Crucible Media (UK) ltd. Through strategic alliances with distribution partners including Dogwoof Pictures, Raindance.tv on Joost will continue the spirit of the festival by broadcasting the best of independent cinema; from the UK premiere of the provocative psychological thriller ‘Gingerbread Man’ to the atmospheric Spanish horror ‘The Nameless’, adapted from Ramsey Campbell’s spine chilling novel of the same name.

Elliot Grove, founder of the Raindance Festival, commented: “We are thrilled to be bringing Raindance.tv to Joost. We have some of the most exciting independent films from all around the world and the Joost platform promises to deliver our consumers an unrivaled broadcast quality viewing experience on the internet.’ He added: “ Joost provides Raindance.tv with a fantastic opportunity to bring independent cinema to a whole new audience.”

Yvette Alberdingk Thijm, executive vice president, content strategy and acquisition for Joost added: We are delighted to partner with Raindance.tv channel and look forward to offering our viewers a channel devoted to some of the best independent film making. With a broad mix of high quality content, including the eagerly awaited Gingerbread Man, we’re confident that there will be something for everybody on the Raindance.tv channel.”
