As first reported here , Film Four will be relaunching as Film4 on July 23rd on Freeview and Satellite TV.
Channel 4's film channel will no longer be on a subscription basis, and films will be interrupted by advertisement breaks.
The channel will broadcast a combination of classic and contemporary films. Its line up for July 23rd includes Lost In Translation and Sexy Beast.

The ad beraks ruin it all for me. I'd rather have kept paying the 6 quid a month. Obviously not many others felt this way which is why we're in this situation. Still I've got 6 extra quid to play with each month now.... choices choices

I remember reading that one of the reasons why they made the move is because Sky charges so much to host a channel, that their profit would actually be higher by using the ad model over the subscription model. The ads are annoying though, but a free thing is never a bad thing either : )
