With less than a month to go, here's the official selection. There's plenty of cause for excitement.
Competition films include the latest from Almodovar, Coppola (Junior), Del Toro, Linklater, Loach and Moretti - to mention a few. Other points of interest include Richard Kelly's first writer-director creation since Donnie Darko.
As well as Fast Food Nation in contention for the Palme D'Or, Richard Linklater also has A Scanner Darkly in the "Un Certain Regard" category, which looks promisingly eclectic.
"Out of competition" offerings include Paul Greengrass' United 93 and the latest X-Men.
Oh, and the Da Vinci Code will provide the opening ... spectacle.
Here's a reminder of the Jury. Who wouldn't love to be fly on the wall of this room?
WONG Kar Wai, President - Chinese director
Monica BELLUCCI - Italian actress
Helena BONHAM CARTER - English actress
Lucrecia MARTEL - Argentinean director
ZHANG Ziyi - Chinese actress
Samuel L. JACKSON - American actor
Patrice LECONTE - French director
Tim ROTH - English director, actor
Elia SULEIMAN - Palestinian director
