Hello everyone,

I'm working on a short film called "Room Service" as an Assistant Producer and green litted by OTT Films. That's a dark comedy / thriller. The starting point of the story is a quiproquo where a guy is taken for someone else and ends up in deep trouble. We are still looking for the location. We need a big bedroom, as it's supposed to happen in a hotel room. The shooting is planned in April, the third week or the last one.

I'm just posting some information about a new independently-produced British romantic comedy called 'Three Minute Moments'. To my knowledge it's the first UK romantic comedy about speed dating. More information can be found at http://www.threeminutemoments.com. The premiere takes place at the Prince Charles Cinema in London on 25th January.

I read Zara's article with interest, because I think what she discusses gets to the heart of the problems with the new era of User Generated Content.

I don't agree with her definitions. I think anyone who films something is a filmmaker. I think Zara's attempted redefinition at least skirts (or maybe that should be kilts) the no true Scotsman fallacy.

Glossy DV Article

Don't bother trying to make DV "look like film". Instead, try to make DV look like "glossy DV"

Now there's a sensible statement if ever I heard one :)

The number of times I hear "How can I make my DV-shot movie look like film?" drives me mad (the answer is "You can't"). If you want a film look, shoot on film. If you can't afford that then play to the strengths of the DV format and make it look as good and as stylish as it can, but don't try to emulate film. Good advice Jack!
