Does anyone have any experience with Sony's DCR-TRV950 MiniDV Handycam Camcorder?
If so would you recommend it?

Bump!
And also... if you had about £500 to spend on a new or second hand camera, which would you get??

I'd buy a beaten up Cannon A1 and bunch of wide aperture primes. But that's because I can't tell stories. Or you can probably get a nice medium format (that's like 70mm for all you film types) for that these days.
But more seriously; I'd be interested in what the 'acceptable' minimum is for camcorders. At what point do they start to be unforgivably crap?

Cheers for that Ed (by camera, I actually meant the non still variety but always good to know!)
I've been struggling with my 5 year old consumer mini DV camera when I can't get ahold of anything more exciting, and I'm interested in making a leap into the world of HD, or at least a high end DV if I can't afford HD. But I've only started researching this, and with a limited budget, I'm probably going to end up with something second hand... so does anyone have any recommendations??
