I trust individuals. I've got to say that I get my most regular diet of film reviews from the TV, especially Film 2006 and BBC News 24's film show on Saturday afternoons. I only ever read reviews in magazines when I go on holiday (i.e. when I'm forced to spend several days without a computer!)

I always go by word of mouth. Mainly because I know what other films the person has watched that we've both liked - when you read a magazine randomly, there is no way to tell if the reviewer has similar tastes to your own. Of course if you do regularly read reviews then you will get to know your reviewer's tastes pretty well... but seeing as I don't often go to the same source for reviews, I often find them hit and miss in their usefulness...

... and I'm exactly the opposite. I read them ALL. By which I mean pretty much everything that's printed about films and DVDs, excluding tabloids and particularly crap magazines. I couldn't call myself a true snob, otherwise! However I'm fortunate because very often I've seen the film before I read the review, so it's a different experience. For this reason it's rare that a critic talks me into paying money to watch a film I wasn't otherwise keen on. I'm quite happy to wait for the DVD on Lovefilm ... the older I get the shorter the window seems (because, IN FACT, the windows are getting shorter!).
