New features on the site

Hi,

We'll use this thread for discussing and announcing new features on UKFilm.org.

Today's new feature makes comments editable:

Since we started this forum, our users have told us that they'd like to be able to edit their own posts. I've done a bit of coding today to build a feature whereby you can edit your own posts for up to 15 minutes after you posted them. The idea is that you'll be able to sort out typos but, because we value the discussions on the site, we want to be able to preserve them for the future in a consistant way.

What do you think?

This is a good idea.

I have been running a fansite for over 2 years and, as with all large sites, you get disagreements amongst members. One thing that happens is that somebody complains about something written, but the poster of the comments complained about goes in and changes everything, causing immense problems.

15 minutes to change things is fine.

Did what i wrote above actually make sense? you can tell I'm a writer ;o)

Cool, I'm glad you like the idea. The idea wasn't mine, originally... Ed (our designer) told me about it and I think he first saw it on Typophile (a community website for, um, people interested in type)

It's one for Alex Parks, winner of Fame Academy in 2003. We are doing ok on there, but get alot of info from better sources than the others, helped by her dad being our patron ;o)
