We recently posted up the full length version of our experimental short Televisual Man on our Myspace; it was the first film we ever shot back in 96 but only recently changed the music to something we actually had permission to use, check it out and let us know what you thought!

Cheers,

Steve

God I hate myspace! But I'm not going to rant about that now..

Very nice film! I enjoyed it. It looks nice. I was waiting for something to happen, but like the slight confusion we're left with at the end.

For some reason it reminds me of the dullness (in a good way) of Andy Warhol's Screen Tests

I'm not 100% sure about the sound. I'd have liked a soundtrack of just everyday background noises maybe. Perhaps a it would have emphasised his isolation?

What was your intention when when making the film (if you can remember?!). What are you motives/feelings about resurecting a ten year old peice? How do you feel it's stood the test of time compared to your current work?

Well at the time I was really into films like Tetsuo and European arthouse and reading stuff like 1984, so the key idea of a surveilled person really came from 1984, the look from Tetsuo, and the pacing from the European arthouse.

I was getting tons of requests in late 2004 for short films to put onto web streaming sites, but the two other shorts I had at the time were unavailable to protect festival premiere and because of music rights. I was playing around with the film to learn the new version of Premiere and just thought why not? Showed it to a few people who liked the atmosphere of it and targeted it at more experimental film festivals who seemed to like the ideas in a modern context of CCTV surveillance and surveillance styled reality TV shows.

I've found it interesting how people react to it, some people have got really into the concept and thought it's way better than I'd personally credit it as being, others just think it's boring and nothing happens, most of my current work is a lot more commercial and doesn't really get such polarised opinions so all in all I'm really happy I put it out
