The RSS feed for the news is this:
If you're running a modern web browser then you should see a little orange-with-brown-stripes RSS icon displayed in your browser when you view the news page.
Once you're logged in, you can subscribe to forum threads and comments by email. You can manage your subscriptions by going to My Account > My Subscriptions and you can also set your "auto-subscription" setting in My Account > Edit Subscriptions.
We use a simple mark-up called Textile for formatting comments. Here are a few quick tips:
This code:
"Link to UKfilm":http://ukfilm.org
Produces:
*text* produces text
_text_ produces text
You need to encase your image URL in exclamation marks like this:
If you're having trouble getting textile to work for you then make sure you're using line breaks and spaces correctly. For example, headers like h3. must always have a space between the fullstop and the title name like:
h3. Heading.
We're always on the look out for new contributors. If you would like to write for ukfilm.org, please contact us – we'd love to hear from you.
The forums do have moderators and we encourage community-moderation (i.e. if you see a post you don't like then please do let us know). Your posts will be published immediately.
Please go to the contact us page and email us. We promise your complaints won't get 'lost' in our spam filter. Really.
First you need to create an account and then log in. Once you're logged in, click on the "Calendar" link on the right and then click on "Submit event".
We'd encourage you to enter any film-related events that you know of and/or run (e.g. short film nights, seminars, festivals, screenings etc). There's also a "misc" category for non-film events that you think filmmakers should be aware of (e.g. major events the might disrupt filming etc)
Go to the calendar and right-click on the "iCalendar: subscribe to the next 6 months" link at the bottom. Then select "copy link location". Then paste that URL into your iCalendar reader (e.g. Apple's "iCal" or Mozilla's "Sunbird")
We encourage you to suggest new features and to report problems found on the site. You can either discuss these in the "general" forum, or get in touch.
Please write to us.
You can find out who we are on the "about us" page.
Unfortunately, the web is full of evil computer programs called "spam bots". These beasts roam the web looking for vulnerable forums on which to post spam about fake designer watches and pills promising to increase your sexual potency. This spam makes the forums a nightmare to read and administrate. Our registration process is designed to filter out these spam bots and only allow real, flesh-and-blood people to post.
