As first reported here , Film Four will be relaunching as Film4 on July 23rd on Freeview and Satellite TV.
Channel 4's film channel will no longer be on a subscription basis, and films will be interrupted by advertisement breaks.

Five confirmed today its plans to launch two new television channels on Freeview this Autumn.
Five US will be mainly dedicated to American shows, film and sports, whilst Five Life will broadcast women orientated programs.

Five has announced a new scheme, FIVE BITES, to enable emerging film-makers to produce a documentary short to air on the main evening news bulletin. There will be 5 × 3-minute films on topical domestic news subjects.

NTL have been successful in their takeover bid for Virgin Mobile. The deal, reportedly worth £962.4m, would mean that NTL would be re-branded as Virgin, making it the first quadruple-play service provider of TV, internet, phone and mobile telephony in the UK.
